Other amenities include repaving with rubberized asphalt, a new storm drain system, new sidewalks, landscaping with irrigation, new water mains and new street lights. For the first two weeks of the project, travel will be restricted to one lane in each direction. Beginning the week of July 2, 2007, southbound and northbound travel on Main Avenue between Drachman Street and Mabel Street will be prohibited for approximately three months. A detour route of 10th Avenue to Mabel Street to Main Avenue will be in place. Work hours for the project will be from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The project is scheduled to be complete in November 2007. This schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or equipment malfunction. The traveling public can expect delays when driving, bicycling or walking in this work area. Business access will be maintained. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone. The Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) keeps Tucson moving smoothly and safely. The Department’s nearly 400 employees oversee the maintenance and reconstruction of nearly 4,400 lane miles of streets and are responsible for hundreds of drainage structures, public art pieces, street lights and signs, and traffic signs and signals in Tucson.
