TRAFFIC ALERT Date: March 19, 2008 **UPDATE** TRAFFIC ALERT UTILITY WORK TO RESTRICT TRAVEL ON ALAMEDA STREET DOWNTOWN Underground utility work for the construction of the future Pima County Justice Court/City Court complex on Stone Avenue at Council Street began on Monday, February 11, 2008. This work, being conducted by a Pima County contractor, will restrict travel on Alameda Street between Stone Avenue and 6th Avenue. The underground utility work on Alameda Street is expected to be complete by Friday, May 2, 2008. This work will force the complete closure of Alameda between Stone Avenue and 6th Avenue between 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday through Friday. The traveling public is encouraged to use Toole Avenue as an alternate route. Following the work on Alameda Street, the underground utility work will then begin on 6th Avenue from Alameda Street to Pennington Street. The traveling public can expect delays when driving or bicycling in this work area. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone. The Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) keeps Tucson moving smoothly and safely. The Department’s nearly 400 employees oversee the maintenance and reconstruction of nearly 4,400 lane miles of streets and are responsible for hundreds of drainage structures, public art pieces, street lights and signs, and traffic signs and signals in Tucson. TDOT also operates the City’s transit services, Sun Tran and Van Tran. | ||
