FOURTH AVENUE UNDERPASS CONSTRUCTION ALERT

Underground utility work in the area of Broadway and Fifth Avenue downtown will prohibit northbound and southbound through travel at the intersection of Broadway and Fifth Avenue. Northbound and southbound motorists on Fifth Avenue approaching Broadway must turn eastbound on Broadway during this work.

This travel restriction will begin at 6 a.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2008, through 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2008.

The traveling public can expect delays when driving or bicycling in this work area. Business access will be maintained. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.

The Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) keeps Tucson moving smoothly and safely. The Department’s nearly 400 employees oversee the maintenance and reconstruction of nearly 4,400 lane miles of streets and are responsible for hundreds of drainage structures, public art pieces, street lights and signs, and traffic signs and signals in Tucson. TDOT also operates the City’s transit services, Sun Tran and Van Tran.
