TRAFFIC ALERT Date: December 5, 2007 STREET CLOSURES On Saturday, December 8, 2007, the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) will restrict travel for the 13th Annual Downtown Parade of Lights event. The parade will begin at 6 p.m. and be complete by 8:30 p.m. To facilitate the staging of parade entries and lineup to begin the parade, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, and 17th streets at Sixth Avenue will be closed at 4 p.m. The parade route begins on Stone Avenue and 17th Street and travels north on Stone Avenue to Broadway. At Broadway the parade travels west on Broadway to Church Avenue, then north on Church Avenue to Pennington Street and east on Pennington Street to Stone Avenue, then south on Stone Avenue to Congress Street. The parade will head east on east on Congress and then south on Sixth Avenue. The parade will end at Sixth Avenue and 13th Street at Armory Park. Please see attached map for more details on the parade route. Pay parking will be offered at Pennington Street Garage located at Pennington Street and Scott Avenue. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution when traveling in the area. Motorists should obey all traffic control signs and law enforcement officers in the area and watch for event participants and pedestrians. The Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) keeps Tucson moving smoothly and safely. The Department’s nearly 400 employees oversee the maintenance and reconstruction of nearly 4,400 lane miles of streets and are responsible for hundreds of drainage structures, public art pieces, street lights and signs, and traffic signs and signals in Tucson. TDOT also operates the City’s transit services, Sun Tran and Van Tran. | ||
